The Healing Properties of Coconut for Men's Health



In celebration of Men's Health Month, I would like to introduce a new segment to the column...Recipes for Your Body, Mind, and Soul.


In seeking alternative or traditional health advice, men often find themselves being prescribed coconut at least 90% of the time. In Alternative and Traditional Healing, coconut has been proven to help men with prostate health and mental health. Testimonials have shown that the water, milk, and meat from any type of coconut have healing properties that can help with prostate issues and avoid any potential prostate issues. For testosterone health and balance, coconut is also recommended.


For mental "relief," many practitioners would suggest consuming coconut either by eating it raw, in a smoothie, or combined with other foods such as rice, bananas, or with shrimp, chicken, or fish. To bring a sense of calm and peace, I often suggest substituting milk with coconut milk or my latest favorite (for the men in my life), making a coconut smoothie for a mid-day chill moment. Many would look to pharmaceutical medications to relieve stress; however, much of the time, many side effects leave a person with more issues than they began with. Healing from foods will not only will leave you feeling more refreshed naturally.


Iced Coconut-Banana Smoothie


Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total: 5 minutes

Servings: 2


1 Cup of Coconut Milk

3 Scoops of So Delicious Vanilla Bean Coconut Milk Ice Cream

2 Teaspoons of Honey (optional)

2 Ripe Bananas


Combine all ingredients in Blender. Blend until smooth.


Meal Replacement Coconut-Banana Smoothie


Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total: 5 minutes

Servings: 2


1 Cup of Coconut Milk

1 Cup of Cream of Coconut (Goya or Coco Lopez highly suggested)

1/2 Cup of Ice

2 Ripe Bananas


Combine all ingredients in Blender. Blend until smooth.
